Streaming music isn’t exactly new, but as it becomes more and more popular, Spotify has found ways to fit its service into your life in new and exciting ways.
If you’re an experienced user, you might already know one or two of the tips listed below, but many, despite being very useful, aren’t easy to stumble upon.
So take a look at the tips below and change the way you listen to music even more.
Find new music with their Discover Weekly feature.
Check in every Monday for two hours of new music tailored especially to what you’ve been listening to recently.
Get new music by seeing what your friends are listening to.
In the right-side panel of the homepage, click “Find Friends” to search for their profiles. If you connect your Facebook account to Spotify, it’s even easier.
You’ll see what they’re listening to, as long as they allow you to.
More on that last part in the next tip…
If you don’t want anyone knowing that you’re listening to Nickelback, that’s cool. Spotify gets it.
You can temporarily hide the songs you listen to from your friends by tapping your name in the top right and selecting “Private Session.”
It’s just like going incognito. Re-click to make your listening public again.
Send a link to part of a track.
If you want someone to hear the bass drop of a five-minute song, you can cue up the good part in a link you send to friends.
Copy the URL, then just add a pound sign and the time, in minutes and seconds to the end.
For example, “#1:21” to the end of a URL.
If you don’t feel like searching out new music, you can just let Spotifydo the heavy lifting for you by tuning into one of their radiostations.
Or you can pick “Create New Station” from “Radio” on the lefthand pane to get a custom one influenced by an artist or playlist of your choosing.
